(1556 - 1623) Nagao Kagekatsu, also known as Uesugi Kagekatsu, was Uesugi Kenshin's successor.  He was adopted by Kenshin and later defeated Kenshin's other adopted son, Uesugi Kagetora, during the civil war after Kenshin's death.  Kagekatsu was a strong leader who continued Kenshin's ambition.  Though he had to give up most of his territoy after the battle of Sekigahara, he managed to keep the clan alive through the Sengoku period until today.
