FAQ

Q: Has the game been released yet? When and where can I get it?

A: Takeda has been released in North America by Xicat Interactive. It is available in stores and online through major retailers. If you’re having trouble finding it, try www.amazon.com or www.ebgames.com, or contact our publisher, Xicat.

Takeda was also released by Mi-Pic in Japan on December 20th, 2001. Xicat is also planning to release Takeda in Europe in the near future.

Q: The game seems to be running slowly and the animation is choppy on my computer. How can I fix this?

A: Please verify that your system meets the minimum system requirements for Takeda (200 Mhz processor, 128 MB RAM, 1 Gig HD Space, video card capable of 1024x768 or 1280x1024, Win 9X/ME/2000/NT/XP). If the game is still too slow, try turning off the environment and weather effects (you can do this through the options dialog). You might also want to try running the game at a resolution of 1024x768. Finally, the maximum allowed game speed can be adjusted by pushing ‘+’ (to speed up the game) and ‘-‘ (to slow down the game). Pushing ‘0’ sets the game’s frame rate to maximum.

Q: Why didn’t the enemy retreat when I cut down both of their flags?

A: Cutting down the flags will demoralize the enemy significantly but will not guarantee the enemy’s retreat. Sometimes, when the enemy is in good shape and is close to a victory, they will stand their ground and continue to fight. Also, the Uesugi army has a bonus on morale and as a result Uesugi troops retreat less often than others.

Q: Do the weather effects really affect the battles?

A: Yes, the weather effects do affect the battles. For example, Archers and Riflemen are more likely to kill their own troops at night or under heavy fog. Also, a battalion’s reacting range will be affected by visibility – if it is dark or foggy, battalions will not automatically charge at enemies until they are quite close. Even if the environment and weather effects have been disabled in the options menu (and therefore are not visible), the battlefield conditions are still tracked by the game, and they still affect the battles. The on/off switch in the options menu only affects what the player sees, not how the weather conditions are processed by the game.

Q: Can I play campaign mode online?

A: Unfortunately, Takeda doesn’t support online campaigns. However, players can improve and reinforce their armies through successive online battles.

Q: How do I uninstall the game?

A: Just run “setup.exe” again and select the “Remove” option. Takeda can also be uninstalled using Windows’ Add/Remove Programs feature (see the windows control panel).

Q: Why doesn’t the installer work?

A: If you try to install two copies of Takeda on the same computer, you may experience difficulties running the game. Remove all versions of Takeda from your system, and try installing again.

Q: Why aren’t my units listening to me?

A: In Takeda, you issue orders to divisions, not units. Units generally have their own ideas about how to react to the battle situation. Sometimes soldiers may seek safety before they follow an order. Sometimes they may be waiting for their comrades to catch up or they may move back to rejoin the main group. Some orders are also very direct, whereas others can be interpreted in different ways. If you would like them to immediately attack a given location, for example, use an ‘all-out-attack’ order rather than an ‘attack’ order. An ‘all-out-attack’ will make the entire division charge straight to its destination without waiting to get into a proper formation. Note however, that using this excessively may lead to higher casualties.

Q: Do I get to control any other clans?

A: In dual mode, you can control any of the eight major clans. In campaign mode, your role is to lead the Takeda clan and only the Takeda clan.
